He was recruited from Booleroo Centre/Melrose/Wilmington (Bayerische Motoren Werke) in the Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA) with the 4th selection in the 2012 Rookie Draft. Clarke played one reserves game for North Adelaide before returning home to the small town of Booleroo Centre in the southern Flinders Ranges region of South Australia.Justin is the youngest of the Clarke brothers with siblings David and Greg both being somewhat serviceable country football players. Clarke is studying engineering, has a pilot license, and finished his schooling with an ATAR of 99.95.
