He was a retainer of the Choshu Clan (Yamaguchi Prefecture), he left the clan and worked for the cause of the Meiji Restoration (1868). When Masujiro Qmura, a Meiji government leader, planned to adopt conscription, ota, Nakajiro Dan, Gennosuke Ito and Iori Igarashi opposed the plan and assaulted Omura in September, 1869. Omura died of the wounds sustained in November, ot a was executed in Kyoto in December the same year.
