Chen, Jyh-Yih was born on November 3, 1966 in Tainan, Taiwan. Son of Xi-Lin Chen and Gui-Mei Jiang.

Career

Assistant professor Institute Biotechnology, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Pingtung, Taiwan, 2002—2003. Assistant research scientist Marine Research Station, Institute Cellular and Organismic Biology, Academia Sinica, Ilan, Taiwan, since 2003. Second lieutenant Taiwanese military, 1998—2000.

Achievements

  • Achievements include patents for shrimp (Penaeus monodon) anti-lipoplysaccharide factor that reduces lethality of Pseudomonas aeruginosa sepsis in mice. Research in 3 different hepcidins from tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus: analysis of their expressions and biological functions. Research in gene expression and localization of the epinecidin-1 antimicrobial peptide in the grouper (Epinephelus coioides) and its protection of fish against pathogenic infection.
