In 1910 Kakuya Kurita entered Kyokado Book Agency. Then founded Kurita Shoten (Bookstore) Publishing Company in 1918. Dissolved Kurita Shoten and established Dai-ichi Shuppan (The First Publishing) Company in 1941. Six years later Kakuya Kurita reestablished Kurita Shoten Publishing Company and then founded Kurita Zrasshi Hambai Company in 1949, becoming president of both companies. Served also as president of Kurita Book Center Association and chief director of Shoten Keiei Kenkyukai (Bookstore Management Research Society).
