After finishing normal school at Nagasaki studied mathematics at home by himself and later moving to Tokyo assisted Chorin Kawakita in teaching mathematics.
Career
Then began writing textbooks, which were used at most grade schools in Japan. Compiled six mathematical treatises. Late in life took to the study of the abacus.
