Career
He is Rayal Somvanshi Rajpoot of Uttar Pradesh in the BJP government. In 1997, Singh served as Minister of Programme Implementation in BJP"s Kalyan Singh government and was again a minister in Ram Prakash Gupta and Rajnath Singh"s cabinets in 1999 and 2000. Singh is a Rajput. His great-grandfather Kunvar Sukh Dew Singh was the great emperor of Kaushambi.
Kamlakar was the first in his family to enter politics.
His father is largely a recluse. Singh completed his primary education at Tilak Inter College, Kaushambi, attended Bharat Scout High School School and graduated from teaching at Kaushambi.
Singh contested the state elections for the Sirathu seat in 1993 as an Independent. Official documents reported he was 26 years old, but he may have been underage at the time.

Singh was incarcerated.
In the Uttar Pradesh state elections, 2007, Singh was elected from Kaushambi with a margin of nearly half the votes cast. He stood as an Independent, supported by the Bhartiya Janta Party. Singh wields considerable influence over five assembly constituencies in the Sirathu region, as well as some in neighbouring Bihar.
In election rallies in this region where he is present, the actual candidate may never speak or even be mentioned in his speech.
