Career
She was later recruited to United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund and became its deputy executive director based in New York City. She retired from United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund in 2004, but is currently United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund special envoy to the Caribbean. Sham Poo served as interim special representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict from August to October 2005.
