1933 defended doctor’s thesis on comparative observations of mech and chemical tatooing of the cornea. From 1937 associate professor 1945-1964 head, Chair of F.ye Diseases, Medical Faculty (now Riga Medical Institute), Latin University.
Was also chief ophthalmologist of Latin Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1947 founder and life-chairman, Latin Social of Ophthalmologists. Presidium member. All-Union Social of Ophthalmologists.
Did major research on eve injuries and surgical and conservative treatment of glaucoma. Was first Latin eye surgeon to perform corneal transplant. Trained numerous ophthalmologists.
