Came to the United States, 1850. From 1855 in Farmington, Connecticut, musical director Mission Porter’s Ladies’ School. Has edited over 1,000 musical works, classical and modern.

Famous Composers (6 volumes, with Theo. Thomas and Professor Paine).
Arrangement works of Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Wagner (for piano), published in German. As photographer, brought out collection of over 400 authentic portraits of musicians, 1880-1890.
