Tucker, Katharine Dickinson was born on March 18, 1873 in Cumberland, Maryland, United States. Daughter of Laurence Thomsen and Nannie Hill (Tidball) Dickinson.

Student negro folk songs since childhood. Has given lecture recitals, leading cities of the United States and before many university and societies. Made phonographic records of many Afro-American folk songs for Harvard University collection.
