Quotes from others about the person
Irene Campos Carr said: “Alcala may be viewed as writing in the style of magic realism characteristic of contemporary Latin American authors; however, this talented writer adds her own distinctive imprint—clearly Mexican American. She distills the essence of the Mexicana and the Chicana, rooted in tradition, ready for the challenges of a new day.”
Cecile Pineda wrote: “Kathleen Alcala evokes a unique and mysterious world, so colorful and rich that the mesmerized reader will arrive at the end of the narrative regretful that it comes to such a sudden close.”
Kathryn Loosli Pritchett stated: “Alacala’s delicate rendering of this complex pageant is quietly moving. Her spirits cast a charmed spell.”
On July 21, 1979, Kathleen got married with Wayne C. Roth. The couple has a son Benjamin.
