Almost universally among the indigenous people of the Colorado Plateau region, and for that matter among most other of the indigenous people of North America, the individual Indian tribes have names for themselves which, in various languages and in various ways, mean basically, "The People," "The Human Beings," or in some cases, "The Only True People. Somehow the name The Only True People seemed particularly appropriate for a book about the indigenous people of the Colorado Plateau, because they are after all the original citizens - the true people - of that beautiful and scenic land. While we make no claim that The Only True People is an authoritative source, it nonetheless strives tp provide a general overview from a historical perspective, of the amazingly beautiful and sometimes phenomenally complex indigenous cultures of the Colorado Plateau region of the American Southwest.
