Minshew was a management consultant at McKinsey. She worked for the Clinton Health Access Initiative until 2010, when she helped start Pretty Young Professionals, a women"s networking site. In 2011, she launched The Muse (originally called The Daily Muse).

She was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 in Media list in 2011 and 2012. Minshew and her co-founders were also on the Incorporated. (magazine) 2012 list of 15 Women to Watch in Technology Minshew represented The Daily Muse in the Wall Street Journal Startup of the Year competition in Fall 2013, where she made the finals.
