The character from a Kabuki play. The central character of Shi so Shiba Kabiiki plays Hakone Reiken Izari-no-Adauchi which was first staged in 1801. According to the play Katsugoro sets forth with his wife, Fudesuke and a faithful servant to wreak vengeance on the killer of his elder brother, Sampei Iinuma. The murderer is Gosuke, the Lord of Iki and a magistrate.
