Katsuhiro Takagaki was born in 1893 in Hiroshima Prefecture.
He graduated from English Law Department of Tokyo University (1918).
In 1918 he entered Mitsubishi Trading Company and became manager of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Harbin branches, director (1944), managing director (1945) and then president and liquidator (1947).
He was appointed president of Kyokuto Shoji Kaisha (Kyokuto Trading Company) (1949) and continued as president after it was merged into Fuji Shoji Kaisha (Fuji Trading Company) (1952). When the company was further merged into Mitsubishi Trading Company he was reappointed president of the latter company (1954).
He held several additional posts including those of adviser of International Trade & Industry Ministry and director of Keidanren (Federation of Economic Organizations).
