Katsuyuki Ueda was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1857.
Katsuyuki Ueda was appointed the chief of the pharmaceutical section of Kyoto Prefectural Hospital and then a technical expert at Naval Powder Plant in Tokyo. Ueda resigned after being injured in an explosion and founded the German language school and the Kyoto Medical and Pharmacological School.
