Kazuaki Tanahashi was born on October 4, 1933 in Fukuoka, Japan. He is a son of Shigeo Tanahashi and Suzuko Tanahashi.
Kazuaki came to the United States in 1977.
Kazuaki studied under Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido.
Since 1991, Kazuaki held the position of a project coordinator and founding secretary at Plutonium Free Future in Berkeley, California.
Also, as a peace activist, he worked against the nuclear arms race and two Gulf Wars. Currently, he holds the post of a founding director of the organisation "A World Without Armies" in Berkeley, California.
