He organized the Sodosha group of oil painters (1916) and subsequently was awarded the Nikakai Art Society Prize for his entry at its exhibition. Became a member of the Shunyokai Art Society which was organized in 1923. Likes to paint still life and landscapes and in the traditional Japanese style. Also a poet and essayist, he has written a number of books.
