Early work has been concerned with theory of economic growth (the role of technical progress, income and wealth distribution, the role of taxes), theory of production functions (aggregation of microunits into a macro-production function), theory of capital (theoretical basis), index number theory (based on economic theory), economic development (macroeconomic adjustments in developing countries), and quantitative studies of economic behaviour (consumer demand functions, investment function, export function, constructions of macroeconomic models). More recently, have moved on to study the macroeconomic equilibrium process under quantity constraints on the one hand and developments in the contemporary Japanese economy as well as quantitative economic history of the interwar Japan on the other.
