A freelance photographer since 1973, Tahara worked as a lighting designer and photographer for the Japanese theater group Red Buddha on their European tour in 1971-72. Working in black-and-white, Tahara photo¬graphs the windows of his apartments. "I con¬sider many aspects of the window," he says. "The space that exists at the moment between the window and myself, the light, the landscape in the distance, etc."
