Career
Coleman began his career at Sunderland, making his debut in September 1971. He made 49 appearances for Sunderland, scoring two goals, in Division Two (now the Football League Championship). During the 1972/73 season he had trial, along with Richie Pitt, at Arsenal but was unfortunate to break a leg during a reserve game.
He joined West Ham in September 1973 for a transfer fee of £20,000.
He joined K.V. Mechelen of Belgium in 1978 and then Darlington in July 1979 where he made 25 appearances in the 1979-1980 season. He then moved to non-league club Hendon before retiring.
