Career
Williams was signed by Fitzroy in 1947, while he was completing a Morris Medal winning season with Corowa in the Ovens & Murray Football League (OMFL). He returned to the OMFL in 1949 as a playing coach, but at a new club, Rutherglen. In 1952 he announced his intention to resume his VFL career at Fitzroy but never made the move to Melbourne due to business commitments.
