Career
Tanuma served as president of Aomori Zosen Tekkojo (Aomori Shipbuilding & Iron Manufacturing Company) and a few other local industrial companies and then as director of Tohoku Electric Power Company (1951-1954). He also held additional posts of president of Aomori Prefectural Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry, president of Aomori Prefectural Employers' Association and managing director of Nikkeiren (Federation of Japan Employers' Associations).
