Bachelor in History with honors, University Ceylon, Peradeniya, 1966. Postgraduate, University Padua, Italy, 1975. Doctor of Philosophy, Academy of Sciences, Philadelphia, 1984.

Career

Assistant lecturer Department History, U. Colombo, 1966-1969; assistant archivist, Department National Archives, Colombo, 1970-1978; assistant director, Department National Archives, Colombo, 1978-1983; deputy director, Department National Archives, Colombo, 1983-1989; director, Department National Archives, Colombo, since 1990.
