The Philadelphia Phillies selected Dugan in the second round, with the 75th overall selection, of the 2009 MLB Draft. He signed with the Phillies rather than attend Pepperdine University. After being limited by injuries early in his career, Dugan had a breakout season in 2013.
He was added to the Phillies 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.
He signed a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs for the 2016 season. Dugan"s father, Dennis Dugan, is a film director
