Ken Akamatsu was born on the 5th of July, 1968 in Kanagawa, Japan.
Ken Akamatsu tried to enter the University of Tokyo, but after unsuccessful attempts, he entered and graduated from Chuo University at the Faculty of Philology, Department of Literature.
Ken Akamatsu is the author of several popular series of manga, or Japanese comic-book series, three of which have been translated into English. He wrote "A.I. Love You" from 1994 to 1997 and "Love Hina" from 1998 to 2001. His series "Negima! Magister Negi Magi" that he wrote from 2003 to 2012 his most longest work, his longest-running manga so far with 355 chapters, was also made into an anime.
In November 2010, he announced he would start a free manga download site for out-of-print titles called J-Comi, and announced that all 14 volumes of Love Hina will be its first release. He started a new manga, UQ Holder! in Weekly Shōnen Magazine; which debuted in the 38th issue in August 2013.
Ken Akamatsu's works "A.I. Love You" and "Love Hina" appeared in Weekly Shōnen Magazine and has been collected in eleven volumes (with fourteen volumes in total), which have sold over 6 million copies in Japan, and received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen in 2001.
Ken Akamatsu became famous as an illustrator at the Comiket (a comic convention held bi-annually in Japan).
