Ken Jones

Background

Jones was born in Liverpool.

Education

Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Career

After working as a signwriter and performing as an amateur, he trained at RADA and then joined Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop. He appeared in many films and television programmes and played a lead character in the British sitcom The Squirrels (1974–77), but may be best known for his role as 'Horrible' Ives in Porridge.

Achievements

• He won many prizes for his poetry.

Politics

As an anarchist, Jones had at different times been associated with Communist Party of Great Britain, the Labour Party (Victory for Socialism Group) and the UK Green Party.
