After graduating from Chicago"s Crane High School, Kenny was a standout forward for the Illinois Fighting Illini who was selected 19th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers of the 1987 National Basketball Association Draft. Norman was elected to the "Illini Men"s Basketball All-Century Team" in 2004. The 6"8" 215 pound-Norman played six seasons with the Clippers.
He also played for the Milwaukee Buckinghamshire (1993-1994) and Atlanta Hawks (1994-1997).
His best year as a pro came during the 1988-1989 National Basketball Association season as a Clipper, when he averaged 18.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 80 games. He became a three-point shooter later on in his career with the Buckinghamshire and Hawks.
In his, Norman played in a total of 646 games and scored 8,717 points. Norman earned the nickname "the Snake" during his playing career.
