His companies reflect his experience and contributions in a range of technologies, including Web and SOA technologies, e-commerce, SaaS, and information security software. He holds over 40 approved and pending patents in internetand information security-related areas.

In 1998, Lim co-founded Sygate Technologies, a leading provider of endpoint security enforcement software.
Lim served as chairman of Sygate until it was acquired by Symantec in 2005. In 1999, Lim founded Escalate, an e-commerce applications service provider, which merged with GERS in 2004, and was acquired by Red Prairie in 2011. In 1995, Lim founded Kiva Software, a leading provider and pioneer of application server software.
In 1996, Kiva Software released the industry"s first application server to critical acclaim.
In 1997, Kiva Software was acquired by Netscape Communications. After the acquisition, Lim served as Vice President and General Manager of Netscape"s Application Server and Web Infrastructure Products Division.
In 1992, Lim pursued his first start-up, Approach Software, a desktop database software company. Approach was acquired by Lotus Software in 1993.
In 1995, International Business Machines Corporation acquired Lotus.
He is founder and chief executive of NextLabs, the leading provider of policy-driven information risk management software for large enterprises. Lim received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contributions to the advancement of technology at Integrated Development Group"s Demo Fall 2009, was selected as one of the "50 Smartest People" by ZDNet in 2000, and was honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award by Ohio Northern University"s T.J. Smull College of Engineering in 2013. In 1997, it won Personal Computer Week"s Best of Comdex award for "Best Internet Software" at Comdex, and was selected as one of the industry"s top privately held technology companies by Red Herring, Computerworld, and Data Communications magazine.
