Career
In 1923 entered political career by joining Seiji Kenkyukai (Political Research Society) and thenceforth devoted himself solely to the left-wing movement; became member of Okayama Municipal Assemblyand Prefectural Assembly; during war was implicated and arrested in People’s Front activity. After the war became president of Okayama Prefectural Council for Cooperation Between Capital and Labor and member of Central Executive Committee of Socialist Party; was elected five times to House of Representatives. Because he opposed the budget bill of the Yoshida Cabinet was expelled from Socialist Party; then organized Labor-Farmer Party and was nominated Secretary-General.
