His interests include discrete mathematics and number theory. He is the author of several books including Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications, McGraw-Hill. He holds degrees in mathematics from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He has published several articles in the areas of number theory and mathematical modeling.
At American Telephone & Telegraph Company Labs, some of his contributions are in the areas of multimedia, including video communications, speech recognition, and image networking. Rosen received a Bachelor of Surgery in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1972), and his Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1976).
He is currently a member of the technical staff at American Telephone & Telegraph Company Labs in Middletown, New Jersey and chief editor of the Handbook of Discrete and Combinatorial Mathematics, published by Cyclic Redundancy Check Press.
