Began as junior engineer, Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Company, Kansas City, Missoury, 1925, chief engineer, 1936-1938, general manager and chief engineer, 1938-1940, general manager and treasurer, 1940-1943, president, since 1943, operating strip coal mines, in Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Kentucky. President Spencer Chemical Company (formerly Military Chemical Works, Inc.), Kansas City, Missoury, 1941-1959, chairman and chief executive officer, since 1959. Director Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, International Harvester Company, Chicago, Missouri-Kansas-Texas R.R., St. Louis, Gustin-Bacon Manufacturing Company, Kansas City.
