Second lieutenant, Cavalry, United States Army, December 30, 1911. Transferred to Field Artillery, July 1, 1920. Promoted through grades to brigadier general, United States Army, October 3, 1941.

Retired, 1946.


Served with Punitive Expedition in Mexico.


Married Helen Elizabeth Cooper, September 6, 1913. Children: Kenneth Prince, Herbert Mayhew, World War II Commissioned.
