Tusky's Big Decision is an educational picture-storybook dealing with sibling rivalry and the dangers of making impulsive decisions. Tusky, a little elephant, is jealous of his sister and feels that his parents love her more than they love him. Tusky makes the big decision to run away from home. Rejecting the advice of his friends, Tusky makes the mistake of talking to a stranger and is kidnaped. Meet Tusky, his sister Ellie; his mother and father; Aristotle, a parrot; Hercules, a fish; George, a white fluffy puppy; his best friend Packy; Hooty a very wise owl; Lumpy, a drawling brown bear; Tiffany, a teasing tiger; and Chunky Monkey, who lives in a world of pretense. Learn how Hooty rescues Tusky by tricking Spike, Tusky's kidnapper, and later helps Tusky to overcome feeling jealous of his sister. Then discover the big surprise Tusky gets when he goes home. This is a read-to and "Snuggle-Up" storybook for children from the ages of 4 to 6. The child is encouraged to interact with the reader over stimulating questions following each chapter that are directed at the child's experiences and feelings.
