Between 1984 and 1989, Achampong scored 15 goals in 81 League games for Fulham.
Achampong then played for Charlton Athletic between 1989 and 1990, playing in 10 League games. Achampong"s next club was Leyton Orient, where he scored 7 goals in 83 League games between 1990 and 1993.
International career
Achampong earned a call up to the Ghanaian national side in 1993, but didn"t make an international appearance. After being released from his contract with Leyton Orient in the summer of 1993, Achampong moved to Ghana.
After a brief spell living in France, which included a spell training with Olympique de Marseille, Achampong moved to Germany in 1998.
As of 2001, he was living in North London.
