Kevin has made a tremendous impact expanding the technology vision during his time at Adobe. Kevin’s insights and passion for rich Internet applications, and what they signify for the future of software across operating systems and devices, will help enable the next generation of innovation for the customers. Lynch has been a staunch advocate of Flash, Adobe's multimedia software platform, and has been critical of Apple for hindering the use of Flash on its mobile devices, the iPhone and iPad.
He was CTO at Adobe, where he shaped Adobe's long-term technology vision and focus innovation across the company along the lines of multiscreen, cloud, and social computing. The most recent embodiment of this work is Adobe Creative Cloud for creative professionals, and Adobe Marketing Cloud for marketing professionals.
He joined Macromedia in 1996, and led its move to Web publishing, including the creation of Dreamweaver and a whole new generation of tools and technologies to advance expressiveness on the Web. Adobe acquired Macromedia in 2005.
Prior to Adobe/Macromedia, he was with a startup called General Magic where he had the great opportunity to work with some of my heroes who had created the Mac, as well as with some amazing like-minded young engineers. They worked intensely to pioneer handheld personal communicators supporting multimedia email, network services, and mobile agents running on the network in the mid-1990s.
Earlier, he was a Mac software developer. He helped develop the first Mac release of FrameMaker and then led their core technology team. Frame Technology was also acquired by Adobe. Prior to this, he helped establish one of the first Mac software startups in 1984.
