Joined Russian Socialist Circle in United States of America. 1914 returned to Russia. 1914-1917 fought in World War 1 in mounted division
After 1917 February Revol deputy chairman, regt comt. August 1917, when General Kornilov’s "Savage Division" was sent against Pctrograd to overthrow the government, Dzarakhokhov defected to the side of the government with 350 horsemen of that division Fought in October Revol.
October-November headed Red Guard detachment and helped repulse Kerensky’s troops near Petrograd and capture General Krasnov. From 1918 in Red Army. 1918-1921 commanded Caucasian Mounted Detachment on Northern Front, then commanded separate cavalry div in Budenny’s 1st Cavalry Army.
After Civil War returned to native village. Deputy, North Ossetian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 1938 convocation.
