Kiara Advani was born Alia Advani on July 31, 1992, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her parent are Jagdeep Advani, a businessman, and Genevieve Jaffrey. Advani also has a younger brother, Mishaal. She is also related to several celebrities via her maternal family.
Actors Ashok Kumar and Saeed Jaffrey are her step-great-grandfather and great-uncle, respectively, whereas model Shaheen Jaffrey and actress Juhi Chawla are her aunts. Her family is also very close to actor Salman Khan.

Advani studied at Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai. She was very good at studies during her school days and scored 92% in class 12th. After school, she went to Jai Hind College for Mass Communication, Mumbai.
Advani made her acting debut in Kabir Sadanand's comedy film, Fugly (2014), opposite newcomer Mohit Marwah, Vijender Singh, Arfi Lamba and Jimmy Shergill. The film opened to mixed reviews. For her performance however, Advani received generally positive reviews, with Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama saying she "catches you completely unaware" and has the "combination of looks and talent."
After playing the leading role in Abbas-Mustan's action film Machine, Advani made her debut in the Telugu film industry with Bharat Ane Nenu, in which she got a chance to appear opposite Mahesh Babu. She also appeared in the movie M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story as Mrs. Sakshi Dhoni, the biopic of the former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The movie was a huge success. She later appeared as a shy bride in the Netflix anthology film Lust Stories.
Advani was cast opposite Ram Charan in an Vinaya Vidheya Rama, a Telugu film. She is appearing alongside Akshay Kumar and Diljit Dosanjh in the romantic comedy Good News. She was featured in a music video Urvashi alongside Shahid Kapoor. She will also play the lead female role opposite Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh, a Hindi-language remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy. She will also appear in four more films, including Good News, Laxmmi Bomb, Shershaah, and Indoo Ki Jawani.
