Background
The son of artist/landscape architect David Merrill, and playwright/actress Leola Green Merrill, Kieth was born and raised in Farmington, Utah, a small, pioneer-founded town 20 miles north of Salt Lake City.

Merrill graduated with a Bachelor from Brigham Young University (Brigham Young University) in 1967.
They have eight children. They reside in Northern California. He received the Franklin South. Harris Fine Arts Award from Brigham Young University when he delivered the commencement address to the Brigham Young University College of Fine Arts and Communications in 2007.
His first novel, The Evolution of Thomas Hall, was published in May 2011, by Shadow Mountain.
He was commissioned by the publisher to write an epic series with the working title Saga of Kings. Book One, Blood of the Dragon, is projected be released in May 2015.
Book Two, Lord of Vengeance, is projected for a September, 2015 release.
Merrill has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Southern Virginia University and president of the Brigham Young University Alumni Association.
