After graduating from Tokyo University joined the Tsukiji Small Theater, for whom Kihachi Kitamura translated and staged several European plays such as "From Morning Till Midnight" and "Over The Horizon." When the theater went bankrupt (1929) Tsukiji taught at Nihon University and also at Bunka Gakuin (culture college). Was also superintendent of Tsukiji Small Theater. He was a delegate at International Pen Club and has introduced many American plays to Japanese audiences.
