Kiichi Kaneko was born in Japan.
After graduating in Japan proceeded to Chicago University for further studies (1891).
Under the influence of American socialists became a socialist and took active part in their movements. Joined the editorial staff of an American socialist newspaper where he met and married Josephine Conger. From America he contributed, commencing in 1904, articles on socialism to the then influential Tokyo daily, the Manchohd. Returned to Japan (1909).
