Kikuo Fukuda

Background

Kikuo Fukuda was born in 1884.

Career

He went to Shanghai in 1905 and joined the Tokokai Society, (China affairs research organ). Also he travelled in the Chinese hinterland with a view to fostering closer ties between the Mohammedans and Japanese. Inspected the Islamic community in Yunnan. Became acquainted with Hwang Hsin, a leader of the Chinese Revolution. Then he widely travelled in North China and Manchuria, studying Mohammedanism.

Achievements

• Founded the Toho Gakudo School for young Moslems in Chouchiakou in Honan Province.
