Kim Ficera was born on the 6th of August, 1959 in Stamford, Connecticut, United States; the daughter of Pasquale and Mary (Alfano) Ficera.
Kim Ficera studied at Emerson College where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Literature in 1982.
Kim Ficera began her career as a freelance writer and consultant in 1982. She worked as a developer, writer, and researcher for New Mass Media in Hartford, Connecticut in 1996-1999. Ficera was a website production artist from 1999 to 2000, and a web manager in 2000-2003. She featured on Out Right Radio in 2001.
Kim works both as a freelance journalist and as a freelance writer/editor for business, professional, educational, and nonprofit organizations. She was a Managing Editor, Digital Content Producer & Strategist in San Francisco Bay Area from 2005 to 2019. As a Managing editor and digital content leader, she provided comprehensive content solutions to B2B and B2C organizations of all sizes across the U.S.
From 2008 to 2014 Kim was a Social Media Consultant and Personal Branding Manager at various companies where she developed integrated social media campaigns designed to increase consumer awareness and affinity for product brands and/or services.
Kim Ficera served as a Corporate Communications and Technical Writer at Autodesk, San Rafael, California from 2011 to 2012. She edited executive communications, newsletters and usage guides for various divisions, and improved communication and decision-making across the company by writing/editing authoritative sources of reference used by employees and contractors worldwide. She was a Copywriter for Brandle in San Francisco Bay Area in 2012-2013. At the same time Ficera served as a Writer at Federated Media Publishing, Inc. Since March 2019 she is a Senior Content Manager at MakerDAO in San Francisco, California.
Kim Ficera’s book “Sex, Lies, and Stereotypes: An Unconventional Life Uncensored” was published in 2003. It is a collection of autobiographical essays and performances in which Ficera recounts her life and experiences as a lesbian. She was also the author of “Gays of Our Lives”, online soap opera, in 1997 - 2001 and the author of the syndicated column “From Hell to Breakfast” in 2000. Kim is a contributor to periodicals, including Girlfriends and Out.
