Background
Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle was born on March 9, 1969, in San Francisco, California. Her mother, Mercedes Gerena Guilfoyle, died of leukemia when Kimberly was a child, and her father, Anthony John Guilfoyle, raised her and her younger brother. Her early family experience and later professional life were closely associated with the San Francisco Bay Area, where she began her legal career and later served as the city's first lady during Gavin Newsom's mayoral term.
Education
Guilfoyle earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis, in 1991 and a Juris Doctor degree from San Francisco Law School in 1994. After working as a deputy district attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where she handled adult and juvenile cases, she returned to San Francisco in 2000 as an assistant district attorney and served there through 2004. During this period she co-prosecuted the nationally publicized People v. Noel and Knoller dog-mauling case, which resulted in second-degree murder convictions.
In 2004 she moved into television, co-hosting Court TV's Both Sides and providing legal analysis for ABC News, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, and other national programs. She joined Fox News Channel in 2006 as a legal analyst and became host of The Line Up, an original co-host of The Five, and a contributor to other Fox programs. She left Fox News in 2018 after more than a decade with the network.
Guilfoyle subsequently became active in Republican politics. She served as vice chairwoman of the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action, worked as a senior adviser to Donald Trump's 2020 campaign, and chaired the Trump Victory Finance Committee's national finance operation. She later worked as a political consultant for Make America Great Again Policies from 2021 to 2023.
In 2025 President Donald Trump nominated her to be ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Greece. She took office in Athens in November 2025 as the first woman to serve as U.S. ambassador to Greece.
