Kimura Takataro was appointed professor at Military Academy, which he left for newspaper work. Later with Chogyu Takayama and Tetsujiro Inoue founded Dai-Nippon Kyo-kai Society, which advocated Japanism (1897). A great admirer of Plato and Byron, he startled Japanese academic circles in a work in which he compared the ancient history of Japan with that of Greece. Among his several works are "Ancient History of Japan," "The Complete Works of Plato" (translation) and "The Expedition of Alexander The Great."
