Calling himself Kin-shin, he became popular for his new ways of singing. He organized the Issuikai, a biwa music society in 1908. Because his rendition of biwa songs differed from the traditional Satsuma school, his style was called Kinshin school. There were more than 7,000 disciples of Kinshin.
