Career
Left the USSR in 1923 with his parents. Became attracted to communism and went to Spain in 1937 as a member of the international brigades. Involved with NKVD officers.
1939-1940, lived in America. Returned to the USSR in 1941. Served in the NKVD Special Motor Rifle Brigade.
From the end of the war until 1965, journalist with the French Section of Moscow Radio, and later with the Prague-based Problemу Mira i Sotsializma. Became completely disillusioned with communism. Re-emigrated, 1973. Lives in Munich.
Wrote valuable memoirs Okhotnik Vverkh Nogami (Germany, 1980), in which he brilliantly describes his friendship with the Soviet Union’s top spy Colonel Rudolph Abel.
