Currently, she is the VP Media at Twitter Incorporated.
She first joined the Canadian Broadcasting Company in 2006 as executive director of programming for Canadian Broadcasting Company Television. Known as Kirstine Layfield at the time, she later returned to using her birth surname, Stewart. Prior to joining the Canadian Broadcasting Company, she was head of programming for four Alliance Atlantis cable channels, and before that worked in the United States where she headed up international television broadcasting for all Hallmark Channels worldwide.
Her tenure with Canadian Broadcasting Company Television was noted for popular series such as Little Mosque on the Prairie, Dragons" Den, The Tudors, Battle of the Blades, Murdoch Mysteries and Being Erica, which revived the network"s prime time ratings after a number of years of decline.
On April 29, 2013 Stewart resigned her position as executive vice president of English services at Canadian Broadcasting Company after accepting a position at Twitter, Incorporated.
