Education
Studied medicine in Edo and haiku under Toishitsu Yasuhara.
Career
At the age of 22, he wrote a kanazoshi, a form of popular Tiovel, which was titled Kyo Waro，be (Children in Kyoto). This story treated life in Kyoto and started a vogue of novels featured by local color. He also wrote Kamakura Monogatari (Tale of Kamakura).
