Career
Distinguished scholar, he accompanied a Japanese envoy to China (Tang Dynasty) in 804. Kiyokimi-no Sugawara was appointed Monjo Hakase (Doctor of Letters) and lectured to the Emperor on Monzen and Gokanjo, Chinese classics.
At the Imperial command, he compiled Ryounshu and Bunka-Shureishu, anthologies of Chinese poems including his own.
Connections
Yoshinushi and Koreyoshi were his sons and Michizane his grandson. They were also famous scholars.
